Private6-Day Draa Valley Oasis Trek – Palm Groves & Dunes
About this tour
The Draa is Morocco's longest river and its valley is a 200 km ribbon of palms, kasbahs and villages. This trek follows it on foot from the Beni Ali plateau, combining oasis life with nights in the dunes. The walking is easy and suits anyone who is used to a few hours on foot.
You lunch under tamarisks at Imi n'Taqquat, ford the river, visit the villages of Ignaoun and Moulay Ali Achrif, camp in the Bou Gaiwarne and Tidri dunes and follow the camel drivers' track to Ergabi and Oulad Adriss. Four walking days of about 5 hours each.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need trekking experience?
No. The walking is easy on mostly flat ground and soft sand; being used to walking a few hours at a time is enough.
Where do we sleep?
In two-person tents pitched by the camel team in the dunes or beside a palm grove, with foam mattresses provided. On clear, mild nights you can drag your mattress out and sleep under the stars.
When can I do this trek?
The desert walking season runs from October to April, when days are warm and pleasant and nights are cool. From May to September it is too hot to walk safely in the dunes.
What should I pack?
A warm sleeping bag, a soft duffel of up to 12 kg (the camels carry it), a small daypack, ankle-high walking boots, sandals for camp, a warm fleece for the evenings, a 1.5–2 L water bottle, sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a headtorch and your personal medication.
