Private6-Day Erg Chigaga Desert Trek via the Bani Mountains
About this tour
Erg Chigaga is Morocco's largest and most remote sand sea, and this trek reaches it on foot from the north. You start on the Faija plateau beyond Zagora, cross the Bani range and follow the dry Oued Lemhasser before a long day over stony plateau to the first big dunes of Chigaga at sunset.
The following days explore the smaller dunes beneath the Bani, the Bougarn dunes and the Oued Naam dunes, with a well stop to refill water. Walking days are longer (5.5–7 hours), rewarding fit walkers with true solitude, nomad camps and dramatic sunrises.
